Maintaining your garden, adding value to your property.

September 1 marks the first day of Spring on the South Coast.

Maintain your property and maintain value, spring is a great time to start property managemnt and aintenance to add value to your property.

A healthy lawn and garden can add value to your property.

A well-maintained yard, lush lawn and healthy garden can  add value and appeal to your home, investment or rental property. Adding mature and established trees and shrubs to your garden eliminates the frustration of the initial growing period of new trees, adding instant value to your property.

We visited the Batehaven Hardware and Garden Centre to find out what kinds of things we should be looking at doing in our yards, in preparation for the hotter Summer months. Belinda hosted a tour of the centre where the roses, mulberries and cherries were starting to grow and blossom already.

Time to get the lawn mower out again

We have experienced a mild winter in Batemans Bay but the beginning of Spring marks the return of the lawn mowing season! Your lawn may have died off over winter leaving it looking patchy, yellow or bare. A patchy lawn can create opportunity for weeds to grow and thrive. This can also be unappealing when potential buyers view your property.

Spring is a great time to seed, feed and weed your lawn. Belinda recommended the spread of lawn seed, ensuring you water the seed and lawn well until the grass starts to grow in the bare patches. A good weed and feed solution will ensure you also keep the weeds at bay while your new lawn establishes itself.

Seasonal vegetable patch

Vegetable patches and home-grown produce is a popular recreation, becoming a more common practice. We are fortunate to have larger residential blocks of land on the South Coast making vegetable gardening at home, possible. Belinda’s top picks for vegetables that grow well in our coastal climate, for those looking to expand or establish the veggie patch are:

  • Tomatoes
  • Beetroot
  • Capsicum
  • Cucumber
  • Chili
  • Silverbeet

Presenting your home

We often hear of the importance of presenting your home, in terms of fresh paint, new carpet or a bathroom renovation. Equally important is the yard, lawn and garden around your property. If you would like to know more about adding value to your home, our experienced and friendly team of Real Estate Agents can assist you with advice, an appraisal or a valuation of your South Coast property, or Batemans Bay home.

A video of Belinda’s tips can be watched on our Facebook page.
